pewag UK Awarded Silver in Speedy Hire’s Net Zero Recognition Scheme

pewag UK has been awarded a Silver Certificate through Speedy Hire’s Net Zero Recognition Scheme, which recognises suppliers for their progress towards Net Zero.

Speedy Hire introduced the scheme so it can better understand the climate progress of the companies in its supply chain. Customers, sustainability disclosures and new legislation increasingly ask for this information. The scheme has three levels:

• Bronze for organisations setting a credible emissions baseline.
• Silver for organisations with established reporting and active carbon management, reduction planning and target setting.
• Gold for organisations with advanced reduction strategies and verified progress towards Net Zero.

What Silver recognises

To reach Silver, a supplier must have measured its Scope 1 and 2 emissions and some of its Scope 3 emissions, in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. It also needs near-term decarbonisation targets, Net Zero targets across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, a published Net Zero transition plan, and a wider sustainability or ESG strategy.

pewag’s ESG report was used as the evidence for the assessment. The reviewers noted initiatives from across the wider pewag group, including solar PV at many of its sites, a hydropower plant and a biomass energy site.

Looking ahead

The certificate covers the reporting period from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027, and pewag UK will submit new evidence in 2027. The assessment came with a scoring matrix that shows where improvements could be made, and pewag UK will use it as it works towards Gold.
