Load Pin and Load Cell Shackles for Aquaculture

Shackles play a vital role in aquaculture, where they are used in load monitoring on the vessel, and to measure the weight of pens and cages, from sheltered sea lochs to exposed island sites. From the deployment of anchor weights, providing initial load and depth data, to the recurring crane loading data captured from service vessels, there are multiple applications where accurate measurement is essential.

Our pewag load pin shackle is a wireless load shackle designed specifically for such demanding, precision-critical aquaculture jobs. The load pin is manufactured from AISI 630 – 1.4542 stainless steel and is designed to fit perfectly into shackle bows. The centralised bobbin improves accuracy and provides a continuous load record from this shackle load cell, transmitted wirelessly from the rain-proof housing to your device for both single and cumulative load values.

Round and Webbing Slings for Aquaculture

Round slings are used to lift pens, nets and other fish farm equipment. Their lightweight design and soft materials protect loads from damage. With capacities from 1 to 10 tonnes, they handle everything from securing mooring frames to net handling on workboats and service vessels – with fewer handling issues and greater flexibility as reliable pen lifting slings.

Round slings provide flexible lifting for demanding handling tasks. Webbing slings are lightweight and easy to handle, wrapping securely around awkward or irregular loads without scratching paintwork or damaging delicate surfaces — cost-effective and reliable, with optional sleeves for added protection.

Custom options include custom lengths, custom labels and company branding, integrated hardware, single or double wear sleeves, and standard or tough outer sleeves.

Bow Shackles for Fish Farm Pens and Mooring Systems

In aquaculture, shackles are the connection points holding pen frames, mooring grids and anchor systems together under constant tidal and wave load.

pewag’s Grade 6 bow shackles are engineered for exactly this. The P210 bow shackle with screw pin combines a hot-dip galvanised bow and screw pin with a 6:1 safety factor for quick, secure connections during pen assembly and maintenance, while the P215 bow shackle with bolt, nut and cotter pin adds a hot-dip galvanised bolt and nut, also to a 6:1 safety factor, for connections that need to stay locked down long-term – anchor chains, mooring lines and buoy attachments included.

Where load data matters as much as the connection itself, our load pin shackles integrate into the same mooring and pen systems, providing continuous load monitoring alongside the mechanical strength of the shackle.
