Last Saturday, pewag grandly celebrated the opening of its first traction chain manufacturing facility in Pueblo,Colorado. This is a milestone for the Styrian chain manufacturer as it is the first production site outside of Europe.
Pueblo, within the state of Colorado, is the new location where up to 50 employees will produce traction chains for the US market. By being closer to its markets, pewag is successfully pursuing its strategy of; on the one hand, satisfying the local customer’s needs and on the other, bucking the trend of relocating manufacturing facilities to Asian countries where the employment costs are lower. pewag will continue to be a brand to reckon with in the future; maintaining its status as a premium and high quality brand; thereby creating optimised surrounding conditions and processes that will continue to produce highly motivated employees.
Setting up this plant on American soil has sent a clear message to all our customers and competitors: we are making a long-term commitment to a market which has helped us to grow over the last 35 years.
By building our new facility right next to the Rocky Mountains, we will be supporting the growth of the American market which has seen an enormous rise over the last ten years alone, resulting in a market share of 20%.
The grand opening took place on May 3rd during the annual group meeting, where 127 pewag employees from around the world met in Pueblo.
The city council of Pueblo thanked pewag by declaring May 3rd to be “pewag day”.
