The Austrian premium chain manufacturer pewag continues its successful growth strategy with the acquisition of Weissenfels, a North-Italian chain producer,
thus optimizing its high quality product portfolio.
With the acquisition of Weissenfels, the traditional Styrian chain manufacturer takes advantage of a modern production, the excellent know-how as well as the technology located in Fusine, Italy, allowing pewag to put even more focus on its traditional strengths to optimize the product portfolio.
From March 2014, the "Acciaerie Valcanale", as the company is named, will employ almost 90 employees in production and logistics at the Fusine sites. The production of lifting chains, selected master links and components will take place in one of the most modern production facilities in the world. In the medium to long run a competence center for tempered chains will be established in Fusine.
Furthermore, Fusine will host the Italian sales department and will be responsible for the international logistics of the brand KWB. The brand Weissenfels will continue to exist – especially for lifting chains in G80 and G100.
The pewag group expects excellent potential for the future, since employees in Fusine are highly experienced and the equipment is very modern. By strengthening the Fusine site, the pewag group will benefit as a whole allowing the other pewag locations to better concentrate on their respective core competencies.
